
The Kino Memorial
My works fall into two categories. One is the western frontier: Indians, settlers, cowboys, mountain men, Mormons. The other is the labor movement: workmen and men of action. This work honors both.

The Jesuit padre, Eusebio Francisco Kino (1645-1711), was the first pioneer in the Southwest. He was an active Missionary in Baja California, Sonora, Mexico and in Arizona. He founded Mission San Xavier, near Tucson, among others. The plaque was a gift of the Kino Memorial Association.
