Valley of the Moon

About Valley of the Moon

Valley of the Moon is a century-old outsider artist built environment promoting kindness, inclusion and imagination through free and low-cost theatrical and other programming. George Phar Legler Society, Inc, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, lovingly cares for and operates Valley of the Moon. Our nonprofit first formally incorporated in 1945 with the published mission of advocating tolerance towards all religions and fostering tolerance and brotherly love for all mankind, regardless of race, creed, or color. Our founder expressed these values as all being essential components of kindness. He believed kindness “civics” lessons through dramatic adventures and parables about magical creatures and animals could result in children growing up with a friendly, happy attitude and treating all others with respect. This tradition is carried on today. While this is an enchanted, imaginative, fun place, it is also a venue for effective education in arts, history, culture and historic preservation.
