I make art from everyday life subjects. When I was selected for this project, the library had the theme for this mural which is to show the heritage/history of the area, so we started to research the history and designed the murals which broke into three phases: Ancient, Recent and Present.

Working in ceramic relief, artist Hirotsune Tashima created a 3 panel mural based on the history of Tucson. In the first panel, the mural depicts historical imagery relevant to the area, while the second panel shows imagery relevant to the present. The final panel alludes to the future, showing contemporary imagery.
