This sculptural form is suggestive of inuksuit (stone landmarks or cairns) built by the Inuit, as well as Thunderbirds found in the Southwest. Salvaged concrete pieces were sculpted by Rock Solid Solutions to create the wings, body and head. Harris Engineering Services provided the structural engineering, Benchmark Concrete provided the footing and CAID Industries fabricated the steel structure. The laser-cut steel words are adapted from the poem “Wild Mercy” by Terry Tempest Williams. Learn more by visiting our Public Art Map.
