2021 Somos Uno | We Are One CARES

Tucson CARES for Artists: The Arts and Culture COVID-19 Assistance Grants provided emergency assistance to arts workers impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency; and specifically to provided short-term emergency disaster relief to help prevent eviction, prevent homelessness, assist with rent or mortgage payments, assist with subsidies for utility payments to preserve essential services, and other needs arising out of the economic impacts of COVID-19.

Tucson CARES for Venues and Stages: Tucson CARES for Entertainment Venues & Stages provided emergency funding to entertainment venues and stages in Tucson and South Tucson impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency. Specifically, funds will reimbursed direct losses due to business interruption. One-time emergency relief funds will reimbursed up to $50,000 in lost income.

Funding Period: July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021  

Total amount liberated in grants: $2,284,294.00 

Total number of grantees: 519 

Funders: Federal CARES Act funding through City of Tucson We Are One/Somos Uno Resiliency Fund; the National Endowment for the Arts; Pima County; the Arizona Daily Star and the Artists Emergency Fund Committee including 200 donors.

6. Project Creosote – stART 2021.1 – 56 grantees – $129,604.00 
7. Relief – Pivot 2021 –39 grantees (both individuals and organizations; if you need exact numbers on individuals vs. orgs let me know and I can add them up) – $50,000.00 
8. Relief – Theater Artist Emergency Relief Fund 2021 – 60 grantees – $30,000.00
