About Alyssa Vargas

Alyssa Vargas Art
Visual Artist/Painter
Tucson, Arizona, United States

My name is Alyssa Vargas, and I am a fine artist residing in the vibrant and beautiful city of Tucson, Arizona. I am passionate about the wildlife of the American Southwest, and therefore, the desert flora and fauna of Tucson serve as a great inspiration for my art.

I enjoy painting animals that are not usually seen as beautiful. I strongly believe in educating the public not to fear reptiles, amphibians, insects, arachnids, and other invertebrates. My art serves as a way to show these misunderstood animals in a positive light and eliminate subconscious bias about these animals. I am thankful for the rich biodiversity that Southern Arizona has to offer, and I hope that my art will make viewers consider their role in the conservation of these wonderful creatures.

I am a member of USARK - United States Association of Reptile Keepers and the Tucson Herpetological Society.

Today had been rough
And the girl was upset
Tears stung her eyes
How much worse could it get?
Exhausted from work
Feeling life had her down
She walked through the door
And heard a familiar sound
“Ribbit! Ribbit!”
The voice called from her room
Making her smile
Dissipating her gloom
Opening the enclosure
She held out her hand
Her friend leapt right out
On her nose he did land!
Laughing through damp eyes
She was now on the mend
Who knew that a frog
Could make sadness end!
